A MERCHANT'S TALE

In 1995, Apple was a PC market leader. Although the market was deeply fragmented, Apple, thanks to their product innovations, managed to climb the top and it was expected to stay there for the years to come. However, one of the initial mistakes that instigated their fall from grace happened thanks to a supply chain fiasco. Apple in 1995 was set to introduce its new line of PowerMac PCs just before the Christmas season. Because the demand for PowerMacs went stratospheric and theirs supply chain was weak, Apple was left facing $1 billion in unfilled orders. Their stock price was slashed by half, and the company went into a cycle of decline.

With the current supply chain disruption, because of the pandemic or/and because of the war in Ukraine, the crucial aspect of the supply chain is affected, manufacturing, transportation and logistics. Always at the end of the chain, there is a company or a customer that is affected by this disruption and ultimately pays the price for the interruption. But, not only does success creates new opportunities, so does every failure. With the current supply chains broken, new opportunities arise. Instead of hoping for things to get back to normal (things naturally do not get back as they were) and focusing our efforts on renewing the old supply chains, we need to create new ones. That is where Immoricon can step in. With our young and enthusiastic team, and our “can do” attitude, we will give nothing less than everything to try to help.

Going back to the Apple story above, if the supply chain crisis can happen to a company like Apple, it can happen to any other company. And, only a few companies have leaders like Steve Jobs that can innovate their way out to new heights.

As Steve Jobs said, let’s go invent tomorrow instead of worrying about what happened yesterday.
